The Coalition of Northern Groups have demanded the rescue of abducted students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State.
They however shelved their plan to protest in Daura to register their concerns with President Muhammadu Buhari who is in the town on a weeklong visit.
The National Coordinator of the Coalition, Balarabe Rufa’i explained that instead, the CNG is using the occasion to launch the #BringBackOurBoys struggles that would go on ceaselessly until all the abducted children are returned alive and safe.
Speaking at a press conference in Katsina, the state capital the group described the abduction of the children as a total weakness of President Buhari’s administration and his failure to protect the lives of all Nigerians.

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), on Thursday said the prevailing security challenges afflicting the country were indications that President Muhammadu Buhari was incompetent and unwilling to tackle the the problems.
Consequently, it called for the immediate resignation of President Buhari and reorganisation of the nation’s security architecture for the sustainability of peace in the country.
The National Coordinator of the Coalition, Mr. Balarabe Rufai, at a press conference in Katsina christened “#BringBackOurBoys”, said the recent abduction of over 300 Kankara students has showed that Buhari lost the prerogative of providing security for the citizenry.
He said: “President Buhari and his government are apparently helpless, incompetent, incapable or unwilling to act to rescue these 300 kids currently in captivity, exposed to harsh weather conditions, torture, hostile unfamiliar environment, malnutrition, the trauma of forced separation and threat

Youths under the aegis of the Coalition of Northern Groups on Thursday staged a peaceful protest in Katsina State over the abduction of students of Government Science secondary school, Kankara.
Members of the group carried placards with various inscriptions, among which are ‘Rebuild the North and not destroy it’; and ‘Nobody is safe in the North;End banditry now and Bring our boys’.
The group earlier addressed a press conference during which it lampooned the Federal Government over its failure to provide security for Nigerians as enshrined in the constitution.
The statement at the press conference was read by its National Coordinator, Balarabe Rufai.
Even as hoodlums disrupted its security meeting in Kaduna State on Monday, the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has said that no amount of threat or intimidation will deter it from the agitation for peace in the north.
The group made this known shortly after a courtesy visit to the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Umar Muri, at the state’s police command, where it reported the attack on its members.
CNG’s security meeting on Monday, attended by retired military and police officers, religious leaders, traditional rulers, as well as women, youth and trade associations was disrupted by hoodlums.
