Article content The province has tabled its Protection of Critical Infrastructure Act also often referred to as the anti-protest bill. Bill 57 was designed in the fallout of the protests in February 2020 in support of the Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs which ground the rail industry to a halt, though Justice Minister Cameron Friesen said it was not written because of the blockades. The bill would allow, on application, the Court of Queen’s Bench to establish a protection zone that bars people from protesting on critical infrastructure.
