Indoor Sprint Triathlon for Social Change
In celebration of Black History Month, join the New Balance Student Recreation Centerâs first-ever Indoor Sprint Triathlon for Social Change. For the entire month of February, individually complete a 2-mile run (3.21 kms), a 500-meter swim (20 lengths), and a 6-mile (9.65 kms) bike ride. The first 20 people to successfully complete the Indoor Sprint Triathlon for Social Change will be given an exclusive t-shirt, designed for this event! Scores will be announced online and will be updated weekly throughout the month of February below.

Black History Month at the University of Maine
The University of Maine is recognizing February as Black History Month with a variety of fun, inspiring, and educational events.
On Friday, the University of Maine community began its month-long recognition of Black History Month by placing Black Lives Matter flags at key points around the campus, including in the Memorial Union, at the New Balance Student Recreation Center, and the Maine Bound Adventure Center. Events are planned throughout the month, hosted by the Black Student Union, in partnership with the Office for Diversity and Inclusion, and Fogler Library, among others.

The University of Maine will observe Black History Month with a series of virtual events hosted by the Black Student Union in partnership with the Office for Diversity and Inclusion and Fogler Library, among others.
Raising of the Black Lives Matter flag will be livestreamed at noon Feb. 1 on the Mall in front of Fogler Library, or in the Memorial Union Bangor Room in inclement weather. Black Lives Matter flags will also be flown at the New Balance Student Recreation Center and the Maine Bound Adventure Center.
Monthlong events include an Indoor Sprint Triathlon for Social Change, hosted by the New Balance Student Recreation Center, and an online Racial Justice Challenge sponsored by Fogler Library.
