Zamfara insecurity: Emir, Barmo assures resounding support to NSCDC

45 killed, dozens missing in 6 Zamfara communities

Daily Trust reports that the communities are in Magami District of Gusau Local Government Area. These are: ‘Yar Doka, Kango, Ruwan Dawa, Madaba, Arzikin Da and Mairairai.  Residents said armed men first laid siege on ‘Yar Doka village on motorbikes and short any one at sight. The village is about 7 km west of Magami town. “The whereabouts of dozens of residents who escaped the siege is still unknown,” one of the traumatized residents, said. It was learnt that from ‘Yar Doka, the attackers proceeded to another village called Kango and shot dead at least 11 people. A resident, Halliru Bala, said the armed men also killed thirteen people in Ruwan Dawa community along Gusau – Dansadau road. The village is 58 km south of Gusau, the state capital.

Police arrest teenager after foiled kidnap in Osun

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Osun State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old boy for allegedly being part of a kidnap gang in Koka village in the state. DAILY POST had reported that villagers in Koka community, Ibokun Local Government area of Osun State on Sunday, foiled an attempted kidnap by some suspected herdsmen. Some locals mobilised themselves and engaged the suspected herdsmen in a gunfight, while three persons sustained bullet wounds. However, the police in a signal on Wednesday, said it has arrested Salisu Sulaiman of Idofihan in Kwara State. The Public Relations Officers of the command, Yemisi Opalola revealed that the teenager was apprehended around 12:15pm on Tuesday.

Police repel bandits recover ammunition in Katsina

Daily Post Nigeria Published The Police in Katsina State on Tuesday repelled bandits’ attack on communities in Batsari Local Government Area of the state. Police spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, said in a statement issued on Wednesday that the successful counter-attack was carried out jointly with operatives of “Sharan-Daji’’. Sharan-Daji is a special task force comprising the police, the military and vigilante groups. SP Isah said the operatives recovered a magazine of 30 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition for AK 47 rifle, 29 sheep, 24 goats, and seven motorcycles after the counter-attack. “On April 20, at about 6am, the Divisional Police Officer in Batsari led `Operation Puff Adder’ and “Sharan-Daji” to Shekewa village, an exit route to Dumburum Forest, and successfully repelled bandits on a heinous mission.

Police Kill 30 Hoodlums In Zamfara, Ask Residents To Support Security Operatives

  The Zamfara State Police Command has killed 30 hoodlums in Gobirawa, Gora, Rini and Madoti Dankule villages of Maradun and Bakura Local Government Areas the state as it renews its offences against banditry. In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, the operation followed a distress call it received about the simultaneous attacks in the areas. “On receipt of the distress call, Tactical Operatives of the Command comprising of Puff Adder, Special Forces, PMF and CTU led by the Commander 78 PMF arrived the scenes and engaged the attackers to a gun duel,” the statement partly read.
