To shift this uncomfortable sensation you can actually use baking soda as it has an alkaline pH which can help to neutralise stomach acid. If you’ve run out of your heartburn tablets, you can use baking soda in a pinch. Simply mix half teaspoon of baking soda mixed in at least 125 mL (half a cup) of water and drink.
