Heating and Ventilation News Group s 74 branches lead it to claim to be the biggest independent merchant in southern England Independent builders merchant Grant & Stone Group has made three acquisitions in the space of a week as it seeks to expand rapidly through a combination of acquisition and organic growth. It now claims to be the largest independent merchant in southern England, with 74 branches stretching from West London to Cornwall and over 1,000 employees. Grant & Stone Group has combined revenues approaching £250 million. On the heating side, the High Wycombe-based firm has bought Total Plumbing Supplies, a 20 year old plumbers’ and heating merchant with five branches supplying trade and retail customers across Dorset, Wiltshire, Somerset and Devon. Another acquisition is TPS, based in Honiton, Devon. This purchase is seen as highly complementary to the merchant, consolidating Grant & Stone’s presence in the South West and extending the group’s plumbing and heat
