Shoreham Academy closed as staff test positive for Covid-19

A SECONDARY school has been forced to close after a “significant number of staff” tested positive for coronavirus over the weekend, it has been revealed. In a letter seen by The Argus, parents were told to stop their kids from attending Shoreham Academy and to work from home on Monday. People unable to care for their children were given the option to send them into school in order to work in year group “bubbles”. A decision to allow pupils to return to school for Tuesday and Wednesday is set to be made this afternoon, it is understood. Writing to parents, Principal Jim Coupe said: ‘We have not taken this decision lightly and have made it with the safety of all of our school community in mind.

St Leonards school closes after confirming Covid-19 case

A St Leonards school has closed due to Covid-19. Saturday, 12th December 2020, 9:55 am Churchwood Primary Academy, in Church in the Wood Lane, announced yesterday (Friday, December 11) that the school would shut, except for pupils of critical workers and students considered vulnerable. The school said it had confirmed a case of Covid-19 within the academy, meaning the school would close with immediate effect. Churchwood Primary Academy is the latest school in Hastings and St leonards to confirm Covid-19 cases. Coronavirus Earlier this week, West St Leonards Primary Academy, in Harley Shute Road, St Leonards, confirmed two Covid-19 cases. Ark Alexandra Academy sent home year 7 students last week and on Thursday morning (December 10) announced an emergency school closure for year 8.

AN MP has warned that a Sussex town is teetering towards Tier 3 restrictions as the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise at an alarming rate.
