MARQUETTE, Mich. – Using gritty defense and strong play in the fourth quarter, No. 19 Michigan Tech outlasted Northern Michigan 63-49 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s basketball Tuesday evening at Berry Events Center. The Huskies have won nine straight head-to-head meetings against the Wildcats, including a two-game sweep this season. Tech also extended its overall win streak to 11 straight games going back to January 15.
Jordan Ludescher led the offense with 21 points and three rebounds. Ludescher shot 7-for-14 from the floor with seven free throws on 10 attempts. Baillie McGirk also played well with 14 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Despite hitting just 2 of 15 three-point attempts, the Huskies made up the difference on defense. HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) – Alex Rondorf made all six of her 3-point attempts to help Michigan Tech women’s basketball to an 80-58 win over Davenport Friday afternoon at SDC Gymnasium. Rondorf finished with a career of 18 points and the Huskies used an 18-0 run in the first half to part for their ninth straight win. Baillie McGirk was noticeable at both ends of the floor. The senior achieved 13 points, three assists, two steals, and five rebounds in the game.

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – Ellie Mackay scored 31 points and Michigan Tech used an impressive first quarter to sweep Ferris State 63-55 at Jim Wink Arena Saturday in GLIAC women’s basketball. It was the sixth straight victory for the Huskies and a two-game road sweep over Ferris State.
The Huskies opened the game with an impressive 14-0 run and led 22-9 at the end of the first quarter. Over the nearly seven-minute stretch, Mackay scored 10, including a pair of 3-pointers. Ferris State stormed back with a 19-9 run in the second quarter and narrowed the margin to just three points by halftime. Several critical defensive stops late in the fourth quarter and two made free throws by Mackay helped MTU stay ahead and secure the victory.

(WLUC) – Continuing a trend of acceleration in the second half, Michigan Tech the women’s basketball team earned its fourth straight 55-46 victory over Northern Michigan Tuesday at SDC Gymnasium. Ellie Mackay led the Huskies with 18 points and four rebounds and co-guard Baillie McGirk had 10 points and a few rebounds. McGirk made a memorable game at the buzzer to end the third quarter as she floated coast to coast, floating in one shot to give MTU a 12 point lead. The momentum lingered and the Huskies used the clock to their advantage in the final minutes, resulting in more free throw opportunities.
