MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The Auburn Montgomery softball team defeated Mississippi College on Saturday to win the Gulf South Conference Championship. It was the Warhawksâ first championship at the Division II level in program history.
âIts definitely super emotional,â said head coach Eric Newell. âIâm so genuinely happy for our 11 seniors. Thatâs what makes it for me - the joy of those kids.â

OXFORD, Ala. – For the first time in program history, the Auburn University at Montgomery softball team has captured the Gulf South Conference Championship with an 8-2 win over Mississippi College on Saturday afternoon.
The Warhawks complete a perfect postseason, winning all four games. AUM defeated Montevallo, West Georgia, Valdosta State, and Mississippi College to claim the GSC title.
AUM extends their season and earns the GSC’s automatic bid for the NCAA South Region tournament that will take place May 19-22.
The freshmen for AUM got the job done offensively for the Warhawks.
