Minister lauds IUB plantation initiative

BAHAWALPUR: Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul Tuesday said the campuses of Islamia University Bahawalpur are lush green and present the best example of the Clean and Green Pakistan campaign.
More than one lakh saplings have been planted on the campuses due to which the university offers a beautiful view. Vice-chancellor Engineer Prof Dr Athar Mahboob, Member National Assembly Zain Mahmood Qureshi and religious scholar Hamid Saeed Kazmi were also present. Zartaj said she had recently visited the university and on this occasion, she was impressed by the beauty of the university, the faculty and the warmth and dedication of the students.
Police detain motorcycle lifters

Police arrested two motorcycle lifters and recovered stolen motorcycles, cash and weapons from their possession on Saturday.
In line with directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Mehboob Rasheed Mian, Bahauddin Zakaria police launched a crackdown against criminals. The police arrested two wanted motorcycle lifters Kazam and Azraf. The police also recovered four stolen motorcycles, Rs50,000 and illegal weapons from their possession.
The arrested men confessed to five cases of motorcycle. However, further investigations were underway and more recoveries were expected from them, police sources added.

MULTAN: A man allegedly set his young servant on fire for demanding his salary , the victim s father said Thursday, according to a case registered with the police.
Police said the suspect, a landlord identified as Akram, allegedly doused his domestic help, Irshad Umar, 28, in petrol and set him on fire. A first information report (FIR) has been registered at the Bahauddin Zakaria station and the accused has been arrested, they confirmed.

MULTAN: A young man working as a servant here in the city was allegedly set on fire by his employer for demanding his salary , the victim s father told police on Thursday.
According to Multan police, the suspect a landlord identified as Akram allegedly doused his domestic help, Irshad Umar, 28, in petrol and set him on fire. A first information report (FIR) has been registered at the Bahauddin Zakaria station and the accused has been arrested, they confirmed.
Multan police added that the details of the case would come to light after further interrogation of the arrested suspect.
