Updated May 7, 2021 7:16pm Two senior senators and the government s three anti-COVID czars discussed Thursday night the budgetary needs and issues hounding the Philippine pandemic response. “[Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III] and I had a good meeting with 3 czars last night to discuss red tape issues and the funding needs hounding the country’s fight against COVID. With proper budget and lots of help from the business sector and LGUs, herd immunity may yet still be achieved. Cooperation is key,” Senator Panfilo Lacson said in a tweet Friday. + April 21, 2021 WE MUST take our hats off to Ferdinand John Balanag for making the first-ever Montanosa Film Festival (MFF, March 20 to 28, 2021) happen, and in Baguio during a pandemic. Yes, of course, he got a lot of help, and the village it took must be credited, too. But to Ferdie belongs the grass crown, so to speak. Because the work, production skills, and management-savvy required to pull together such a feat equal tremendous.
But lest we be accused of playing favorite connections and writing only of Ferdie, the festival was presented by The Workshop for Infinite Media (TwiMedia), Baguio City Mayor’s Office, and Department of Tourism. Lead partners included Film Development Council of the Philippines, Tourism Promotions Board of the Philippines, National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Cultural Center of the Philippines, Baguio Tourism Council, Council for Baguio Creative City, and the embassies of France, India, and Czech Republic.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque (OPS / MANILA BULLETIN)
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque made the statement after Magalong and celebrity Tim Yap drew flak for Yap’s birth anniversary bash.
Magalong and his wife attended the party despite strict mass gathering rules.
In his Thursday presser, Roque held Magalong to his promise to implement the law.
“Nangako naman po ang Mayor ng aking siyudad na aaktuhan po ang nangyari dito (Mayor Magalong promised to act on it),” he said.
“Humingi na po siya ng abiso na nagkaroon nga po ng lapses at ang sabi ho niya pati sarili niyang misis, pwede niyang impose-an ng fine (He also apologized for the lapses and he said that he can even impose fine on his wife),” he added.
