Emergency services were called after a group of motorists became trapped in heavy snow in Carlow last night.
Multiple units from Bagenalstown Fire & Rescue Service attended the scene on Mount Leinster at around 8pm on New Year s Eve.
Following several days of wintry conditions, the mountainous region turned treacherous. This resulted in the group s vehicles becoming trapped under the snow.
Thankfully, everyone involved made it safely back down the mountain. The area – 9 Stones Road – remained closed overnight.
Emergency Times, an online magazine for frontline emergency services, took to Twitter to share images of the scene.
They wrote: Fire crews from Bagenalstown & Carlow Town assisting Gardaí and Carlow County Council crews in dealing with numerous vehicles trapped at Mount Leinster, South Carlow due to snow & treacherous conditions.
