BCC Trustees elect 2021 board officers

rustees elected board officers and designated committee assignments for 2021 during their regular monthly board meeting held Jan. 4. Trustees voted unanimously to have Lance Lechtenberg (District 3) serve as board chair with Doug Law (District 2) serve as vice chair. Forrest Rhodes (District 3) will serve as secretary/treasurer.
Committee appointments are as follows:
Kansas Association of Community College Trustees Delegate: Mary Martha Good (at large)
Board Finance Committee: Doug Law, Shelby Smith (District 2)
Foundation Board Liaison: Forrest Rhodes
Educational Facilities Authority Board: Jim Howell (District 1), Doug Law, Julie Winslow (District 1) as alternate
AG Leadership was founded in 2016 and now has dozens of mentees under its wing.

Rivera moved to Florida his junior year but his high school experience looked much different than others.
“I had to sleep in my car in Home Depot parking lots; there were times I was so hungry I thought I’d starve.”

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - New educational opportunities are coming for some Mississippi County students.
The Rivercrest School District announced beginning with the 2021-2022 school year, the high school will become a conversion charter school.
“We are really excited about the pathways that we’re going to be able to offer students,” Superintendent Sally Bennett said.
The Academies at Rivercrest High School, as it will be known, was approved by the Charter Authorizing Panel and the Arkansas State Board of Education.
