Bethesda Resident Dies in Collision Involving Motorcycle
A 57-year-old Bethesda man died in a collision while riding a motorcycle Monday morning. Babak Roboubi of Helmsdale Road was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department Collision Reconstruction Unit, the collision occurred at 11:28 a.m. April 19 on River Road.
Following a preliminary investigation, MCPD announced that Roboubi was driving a 2012 Yamaha Zuma motorcycle when it collided with the side of a 2004 Peterbilt tractor-trailer, both of which were traveling west and were next to each other on River Road approaching Beech Tree Road. The motorcycle then struck a 2020 Ford Transit van, which had stopped on Beech Tree Road waiting to turn west onto River Road.

At approximately 11:28 this morning (Monday, April 19), 2nd District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to River Road at Beech Tree Road for the report of a serious collision involving a motorcycle.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2012 Yamaha Zuma motorcycle and a 2004 Peterbilt tractor-trailer were traveling westbound next to each other on River Road approaching Beech Tree Road. For reasons still under investigation, the Yamaha collided with the side of the Peterbilt. After the initial collision with the Peterbilt, the Yamaha then struck a 2020 Ford Transit van which was stopped on Beech Tree Road and waiting to turn west onto River Road.
