Eleven Suspects Arrested in Lenasia for Violating COVID-19 Lockdown Regulations

At least eleven suspects have been arrested in Lenasia for violating the COVID-19 protocols under level three of the national lockdown.
Police say the suspects were handcuffed on Sunday for failing to abide by the curfew which has been set from 9pm to 5am.
The police’s Bafana Ndimande says the suspects failed to produce permits that allow them to be out during the curfew period.
“The police arrested ten males and one female and they were detained at Lenasia SAPS cells, and they will appear shortly at Lenasia Magistrates Court.”

Lenasia police say they are seeing an increase in the number various crimes in the suburb.
The spokesperson for the Lenasia Police Station Bafana Ndimande was speaking to Radio Islam on Monday ahead the major public holidays like Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day during the festive season.
While many Lenasia residents will be travelling to their various holiday destinations, some residents will be staying at home.
The festive period is also an opportune time for criminals to prey on the vulnerable and on the homes of residents who are on holiday.
Man Murdered in Lenasia after Apparent Mob Justice

Lenasia police are investigating a case of murder after a man was killed in an apparent case of mob justice at the Precast Informal Settlement.
Police say they arrived on scene and found a man lying on the floor in his shack on Sunday.
Spokesperson Bafana Ndimande has urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the police.
“The victim sustained head injuries and he was certified dead by the paramedics, who were already at the crime scene. The motive of the murder is unknown at this stage. The pathologists were summoned to the crime scene and they transferred the deceased to Diepkloof Mortuary.”
