HOWARD – Cows could be seen roaming in Howard early Monday after the second of two crashes in the Green Bay area involving cattle trucks.
Twelve cows died after a truck headed to a JBS Packing meat-processing facility crashed about 5 a.m. at a roundabout off Wisconsin 29 in Howard. The driver took the roundabout on Packerland Drive but thought he was still on the highway, according to the Brown County Sheriff s Office. He crashed in the roundabout and lost control of the semi, which rolled on its side, according to the sheriff s office.
Of the 36 cows in the truck, 24 were transported alive. Twelve cows were killed or were put down because of the crash, deputies said. The crash remains under investigation.
