The redevelopment of downtown South Milwaukee continues as Dawn Equipment expands into the former Bucyrus campus Erik S. Hanley, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
From the shovels that dug the Panama Canal to farm equipment, South Milwaukee’s former Bucyrus/Caterpillar campus is starting to fill out.
Illinois-based Dawn Equipment, which makes farming equipment, is expanding into about 75,000 square feet of the property in the center of South Milwaukee.
CEO Joe Bassett said the company already has a software and research/development team in Milwaukee and that, plus the need for “a facility with existing crane service and a large span between the beams,” played a role in why South Milwaukee was chosen for the company’s expansion.

Bassett said this location will produce “large pull type frames for our smart row implements.”
