ABU DHABI, 13th June, 2021 (WAM) The UAE has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS), at the close of the visit of Mariam Almheiri, UAE Minister of State for Food and Water Security, to Kazakhstan, which took place from June 10 to 11.
Concluding the two-day itinerary to Kazakhstan, which saw Almheiri meet with the Prime Minister, Askar Mamin, the agreement signing is aimed at building on the excellent relations between the UAE and the IOFS.

Bader Mubarak, chief executive of Fish farm, says it is the biggest farm of its kind in the UAE but it is still very small according to market demand.
Each year, the facility produces 1,000 tonnes of organic fish, from Atlantic salmon to seabass and yellowtail.

Dubai has 401 companies in fisheries sector, which reflects the emirate’s focus on strengthening the marine and aquaculture wealth as one of the pillars of economic, social and environmental development that contribute significantly to supporting national food security.
According to a report issued by the Business Registration & Licensing sector of Dubai Economy, the companies that work in the fisheries sector cover diverse activities including fishing, marine animal catching, sea-based aquaculture, pearl cultivation, fish and crustacean farming.
