The Nigerian Navy, Western Naval Command, on Thursday, said it has launched Operation Water Guard to combat smuggling, piracy, oil theft, and other illicit activities plaguing the maritime space in Lagos State and environs. The command, led by Rear Admiral M.B Hassan, inaugurated the operation in the Badagry axis of Lagos State, according to a release obtained by SaharaReporters. The navy said the operation would specifically target the Badagry waters and land axis around Ashipa, a border community to Benin Republic.
