more effective where does that focus need to be? this has become issue number one. that s a great question and you previously spoke to this. the greatest the guns are out there. the bad guys have the guns. we need prosecutors and criminal justice system to prosecute these people to the fullest extent of the law. our officers are taking record numbers of guns off the streets. the bad guys don t care. they have the guns, they ll use the guns. we need the tools and resources to combat it. a huge piece is prosecutors going after these people. bill: you need politicians to have the back of the cops. the hiring is down 5% but the resignations are up 18%. and the retirements are up 45%. then you have democratic congress members like cori bush out of st. louis. who knows crime better than the city of st. louis and what they ve been through. she writes we know what our own
did it, the murderer, wasn t deterred by the law, because of course, he is a murderer, he doesn t care. right, and that is what i ve tried really hard to do for t years, try to educate people aabout the dangers of gun free zones and how the bad guys don t care. they don t care about the law. these gun-control laws really only impact good, law-abiding people, maket them helpless, defenseless. stop these horrible things from happening. tucker: i think normal people understand that, intuitively. someone like you who has lived it, who s life the tragedy in your life explains the point you are making so clearly. you don t need to say more. but there are people who hear your story and still aren t convinced. to they say to you? oh, people will say, what makes you think you could have stopped him? he will be more dangerous to have other guns in the equation. and, look, if the bad guy is the only one with a gun, guess who wins? tucker: yar. you know, people s hearts are
him in the hall way after he shot a young woman who now lost her life. it got almost no coverage. the shooter killed himself. he did it faced with this guy staring at him with a gun. martha, we have seen this over and over again. when we do a post incident analysis of school shootings, when confronted by a good guy with a gun they turn the gun on themselves the shooter or the attack and stopped and they try to get away. this say fact. bad guys don t care about gun free zone signs. they care about-facing down a trained and will be opponent on the other side who is going to engage with them and stop the attack. they want to avoid pain want to avoid being shot themselves. they want to avoid losing control of the situation which is what they feel they have when they are the only person on that
and the nationals game shootings makes the point. we have more and more people going out into the world again. covid is starting to become a memory, still an issue but people are getting back to normal. well, the crime is still going to continue. so now there is more opportunity for innocent people to end up becoming victims. they aren t the targets necessarily but bad guys don t care. they are firing indiscriminately at another target and don t care about the people around them. that s an issue we will have to face. harris: that stadium is something we re used to seeing in other countries. i think about the granda concert and people know that we have to get out of here. it really does leave a stain on our public events when this sort of thing can happen and very sad. i m glad everybody is okay from the stadium. chicago under siege by violent criminals. it has been a bad 2021 there.
