Two arrested on drug charges

A three-month investigation has led to the arrest of two Huron County residents on drug charges.
According to a press release from the Huron County Sheriff s Office, Beecher John-Ray Dheel, 31, of Elkton and Bray A. Vantifflin, 28, of Bad Axe were arrested last week on felony delivery of meth charges.
On the evening of Feb. 11, members of Huron County Drug Task Force and police from the Bad Axe Police Department arrested the two men after a traffic stop in Bad Axe on drug charges. The arrests were part of an ongoing investigation into he delivery of methamphetamine in Huron County.

BAD AXE A 70-year-old woman died after being hit by a vehicle in Bad Axe Jan. 18.
According to the Bad Axe Police Department, at approximately 6 p.m. 70-year-old Elaine Stocker was attempting to cross Huron Avenue in front of the Bad Axe Theatre when she was struck by a vehicle.
During the investigation BAPD officers determined that 60-year-old Sara Anderson was traveling eastbound on Huron Avenue when she struck Stocker. Anderson did not see Stocker until the impact, a BAPD press release read.
According to the release, several witnesses were interviewed and the investigation is ongoing. However, alcohol and speed were not a factor in the accident.

VERONA TOWNSHIP Ricky H. Bailey was found dead at his home in Verona Township as the result of two gunshot wounds Dec. 30.
According to Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson, shortly before midnight, Huron County Central Dispatch received a call from residents of a home on Rapson Road stating that their dad had been shot by two individuals.
Unknown if the assailants had left the area, deputies from the sheriff’s office and officers from the Bad Axe Police Department arrived and cleared the scene to get to the residents of the home and the victim.
VERONA TOWNSHIP, Michigan (WNEM) A man is dead after two assailants entered his house and shot him while his two sons were home.
On Wednesday, Dec. 30 at 11:19 p.m., Huron County Central Dispatch received a call from residents of a home on Rapson Road in Verona Township that their father was shot by unknown individuals.
It was unknown if the assailants left the area, according to the Huron County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and officers from the Bad Axe Police Department were sent to the area to clear the scene and respond to the victim.
The sheriff’s office said police found an unresponsive 59-year-old man laying on the floor with two gunshot wounds.
