When I dropped in on a rainy day, the bright yellow lentil soup was served in a proper shallow soup dish with a plate beneath it. It was thick and hearty and had the soul satisfying impact of a bowl of chicken noodle soup from grandma s house. Al Khafaji is originally from Iraq, and food service establishments are common among his family members in Iraq and Syria. Before opening his own business, Al Khafaji worked at Rochester area restaurants Basha Mediterranean Eatery and Sultan Lebanese Cuisine and Bakery.
