this problem and only to see the problem get worse and worse. while the overall number of unhoused people is actually down over the last three years, those who remain on the streets are worse off. what we call homelessness is fundamentally a problem of untreated mental illness and drug addiction. the biggest critics of the city s approach to homelessness, call it misguided compassion, ineffective, even inhumane. they re spending moneys in ways that attract people and incentivize people come to to san francisco and behave in the ways that they do. where are y all from? we re from modesto. modesto is a hard place to be homeless. it s way easier. i love it here. like so many people we ve met on the streets here, keely and justin came to san francisco and never left. that s keely s dogs, baby
