Call for Commission Report into Mother and Baby Homes to be repudiated Published: Wednesday, 09 June 2021 12:21 Tuam Mother and Baby Home Alliance PRO Breeda Murphy insists the Commission of Investigation  Report into Mother and Baby Homes needs to be rejected as invalid. She says the lack of respect for survivors’ testimony in the Report, makes it an invalid record of what occurred. Breeda was in attendance at the Oxford online lecture last month in which Professor Mary Daly, one of the three authors of the Commission Report, spoke of its methodology and conclusions and admitted that the testimony of 550 survivors was not included.

Cabinet set to approve the right to access birth certs for adopted people Published: Tuesday, 11 May 2021 07:54 Adopted people will be given the opportunity to scrutinise proposed legislation that will give them access to their early life information. The Children s Minister Roderic O Gorman is bringing the heads of the Birth Information and Tracing bill before Cabinet this morning. Under the current law, adopted people aren t entitled to their birth records. The Government promised the new legislation after the mother and baby homes report was published in January. Breeda Murphy of the Tuam Mother and Baby Home Alliance says the Minister is giving those affected a chance to look at the proposed bill, but they ve some concerns:
