Cairns: the ultimate bucket list

Cairns: the ultimate bucket list 16 Feb, 2021 05:00 PM 7 minutes to read Flynn Reef, Great Barrier Reef. Photo / Tourism and Events Queensland. From the wondrous treasures of the Great Barrier Reef to the majestic call of ancient rainforest, Queensland’s Cairns is the gateway to phenomenal, one-of-a-kind experiences. With year-round sunshine, luscious produce and refreshingly laid-back vibes, the Cairns and Great Barrier Reef region already has some pretty alluring drawcards. The rest of the drive will run all the way south to Townsville, along a rainforested route called the Great Green Way. Day 1: Cairns Arriving in Cairns, my first stop is a new hotel called Flynn, which is bidding to transform Cairns from its cheap and cheerful backpacker image into an upmarket destination.
