DWI arrest of driver in wrong lane

On Wednesday, July 7, at 11:09 p.m., on Bedford Road, Katonah, police pulled over Pedro Arias Mejia, 41, of Danbury, Connecticut, who was observed traveling north in the southbound lane.  Mr. Mejia’s showed signs of intoxication, and there was a strong odor of alcohol, police said; he admitted to consuming beer. He was arrested and transported to county police headquarters in Mount Kisco for a blood alcohol test, which he failed; testing equipment was unavailable at Bedford police headquarters. Mr. Mejia was charged with driving while intoxicated, processed and issued five tickets. He returns to Bedford Court July 21.  The following is based on official reports of the Bedford Police Department for July 5 through 11. 

Boy Seriously Hurt After Being Hit By Vehicle Near School In Westchester

Read / Add Comments A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle while riding his bike in Northern Westchester.  The incident took place around 7:22 p.m. Thursday, June 10 in Bedford Hills. The teen rode his bike into traffic without looking while coming from the area of the Bedford Hills Elementary School on Babbitt Road, said Bedford PD Lt. Jeff Gulick. The driver of the vehicle did not have a chance to stop before hitting the teen who suffered a head injury and broken pelvis, Gulick said. There was no criminality involved at all, Gulick said. The driver offered aid to the boy before help arrived on the scene.
