The Buwekula bred 40-year-old comic, who also doubles up as a radio presenter, is revered in the city for bringing to life the character of Baba Kasolo with a Jinja-based comedy group, Swengere. Win Speaking on his election victory on a National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, the comedian admitted that comedy has made him who he is and it s part of him adding that the character that people have identify him with, is not going anywhere.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate last week defeated nine contestants, including Robert Kanusu (NRM), Dr Frank Nabwiso (FDC), Godfrey Tibenkana (DP), Rose Kalembe (ANT), Julius Zziwa, Jeff Bidandi, Joseph Bamwite,  Joseph Agaba and Meddie Ntuyo, all Independents.

Radio presenter wins Jinja City mayoral race on NUP card

Daily Monitor Friday January 22 2021 Advertisement JINJA- After two days of uncertainty, National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate in the Jinja City Mayoral race, Mr Peter Okocha Kasolo, has been declared winner, beating nine other contestants. The mayor-elect was, however, arrested with his supporters as they celebrated. They were briefly detained at Mafubira Police Station on Friday at about 4 am only to be released at about 10 am. The 40-year-old resident of Buwekula village, Jinja North Division in Jinja City, is a radio presenter and comedian with Swengere, a Jinja-based comedy group, where he acts as ‘Baba Kasolo’. After his A-level education at Namasagali College, Mr Kasolo started out as a radio presenter at the defunct Kamuli-based Radio Empanga, before joining the defunct Bamboo FM.
