BENGALURU: The Congress won six, JD(S) two and BJP managed only one of the ten urban local bodies which went to polls on April 27. Of the seven, Congress won Ballari and Teerthahalli, both bastions of the ruling BJP. In Bidar, the Congress emerged as the single largest party.
Congress functionaries were upbeat on Friday after the results were announced. Of 266 seats spread across 10 ULBs, Congress won 119 and JD(S) 67, relegating BJP to third position with 54 seats.
The alleged mishandling of Covid-19 situation seems to have gone against the saffron party as it lost badly even in the home district of chief minister BS Yediyurappa. Congress won both Bhadravati City Municipal Council and Teerthahalli Town Panchayat.
