Woman among five held for two property offences

Police arrested five persons including a woman and also took a minor into custody for their alleged involvement in two different property offence cases, here on Wednesday.
In one case, the police arrested R. Revathi (29), her husband R. Visweswara Rao (30), and her brother B. Vinod Kumar (26), all hailing from Srikakulam district and living in Yendada, for allegedly stealing a bag containing valuables worth ₹1.50 lakh including a diamond necklace from a car that was parked in the parking lot of a hotel near Beach Road.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) V. Suresh Babu said that all the three are educated persons. Visweswara Rao is a B. Tech graduate and runs a food truck at MVP Colony. Revathi who finished her MBA is a homemaker, while her brother Vinod Kumar graduated with a degree in BBM.
The city police seized 51.7 kg ganja from peddlers from different parts of the city on Friday.

CHENNAI: The city police seized 51.7 kg ganja from peddlers from different parts of the city on Friday. The major haul was reported by New Washermenpet police who registered the arrest of three persons in possession of 46 kg ganja.
Madhavaram Prohibition Enforcement Wing secured the trio during a vehicle check near Vaidyanathan flyover. The accused were identified as B Dinesh Kumar (31), S Jalaludin (31) of Gummidipoondi and A Kali (22) of Kasimedu. In another incident, Fishing Harbour police arrested 52-year-old E Kozhi Kuppam of Washermenpet and seized 1.2 kg from him. Egmore police arrested S Suresh (38) of Egmore and seized 4.5 kg ganja and a two-wheeler from him.
