MDEC launches Go-eCommerce Onboarding and Shop Malaysia Online campaigns to help local businesses

Details 02 July 2021 The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has launched its Go-eCommerce Onboarding and Shop Malaysia Online (SMO) campaigns as part of the Belanjawan 2021 (National Budget) initiatives. MDEC said that as the lead agency, MDEC will execute the campaigns through a public-private co-funding model.  Under Belanjawan 2021, the Malaysian government will inject an incentive package worth RM200 million. It aims to support Malaysian businesses from various sectors to onboard onto eCommerce and ePayment platforms to enhance their sales capability in eCommerce and help boost their sales. Under the SMO campaign, the government will give away incentives such as discounts, rebates and shipping vouchers to the Rakyat to encourage more online purchases from local businesses. A further RM100 million has also been allocated to assist local businesses to onboard onto the eCommerce platform via the Go-eCommerce campaign.

Date Time Share City Architecture for Tomorrow Challenge Awards Winners Numina and KERB US$500K for Implementation in Kuala Lumpur City Architecture for Tomorrow Challenge (CATCH) launched in February 2020 with a global call for dynamic and data-driven solutions to address mobility and city planning challenges in Kuala Lumpur. Six finalists developed Minimum Viable Products (MVP) of their innovative solutions including demand responsive transit, smart cameras, synthetic data modeling solution, data fusion platform, and parking solution towards improving mobility and city planning. Numina (US) and KERB (Australia) selected as joint winners and will receive US$250,000 each as a grant award for their solution trial and implementation of their solutions in Kuala Lumpur.

MBM Resources Bhd has appointed Muhammad Fateh Teh Abdullah, the former head of automotive distribution division of Hicom Holdings Bhd, as its new president and CEO with effect from Monday (Feb 8). With this, Annie Chin will cease to be the group’s acting president and CEO and will resume her position as the group’s chief financial officer.
