Breonna Taylor s mother Tamika Palmer to speak on live Zoom event hosted by HCCC

By John Heinis/Hudson County View Palmer will take part in HCCC’s Speaker Series event that will stream at 12 noon on Thursday, February 18th, the school announced on Friday. In keeping with HCCC President’s Advisory Council on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (PACDEI) practices, the college requests that members of the community participate by submitting questions they may have for Palmer by February 10, 2020 to mvitale@hccc.edu with the subject line “Breonna Taylor.” Breonna Taylor became a catalyst for the Black Lives Matter movement when she was shot and killed by police in her Louisville, Kentucky home on March 13th, 2020.

Has COVID-19 changed the art world forever or just temporarily? Pablo Larios I see three areas in which COVID-19 has accelerated permanent changes that were already underway in the art world: digitization, relocalization and funding. We’ve become much more comfortable looking at (and reviewing) exhibitions online yet there’s a renewed sense of local attention, too: intuitively, it suddenly matters more what’s going on in your own neighbourhood than an art event opening across the world you won’t see anyway.

The numbers they calculated showed that in America, the art displayed in galleries and museums is primarily from white male artists. Source: Advertisement The study found that 85.4% of works of art in American museums are from white artists. The study also showed that 87% of artists featured amongst 18 major U.S museums were men. African American artists were the lowest represented in the survey making up only 1.2% of artists featured in American museums and art galleries.
