Chadwick Boseman received a
posthumous Golden Globes nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama category for his role in Ma Rainey s Black Bottom. And he won! It s his first Golden Globes Award.
His wife,
Simone Ledward Boseman, was overcome with emotion as she delivered an acceptance speech for the award on his behalf. This is the second time she was accepted an award on his behalf since his death. In January, she delivered a
painfully powerful acceptance speech at the IFP Gotham Awards and this awards show was no different.
“He would thank God. He would thank his parents. He would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifice. He would thank his incredible team: Michael Greene, Azeem Chiba, Nicki Fioravante, Evelyn O’Neill, Chris Huvane, Logan Coles,” she said.

Chadwick Boseman made history at tonight’s Golden Globes, becoming the first Black actor to win a posthumous Golden Globe. The actor won the award for Best Actor, Motion Picture Drama for his role in
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. It was his last role before his death.
