Since commencing operations, Amotekun has recorded several unfortunate incidents, resulting in death of innocent citizens in many cases. Development News Nigeria, DNN’s investigation reveals that this might not be unconnected to the quality of personnel recruited into the security corps. Last April, Elijah Tope, a final year student of the Federal University of Technology, was shot dead at the wedding of one of the personnel of the corps during a gun salute exercise.

A 14-year-old boy identified as Ayomide Adeghalu, has been allegedly tortured to death by the operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency more commonly known as the Amotekun. It was learnt that the teenager was tortured to death over N500 at the Ogbonkowo area of Odojomu in Ondo town, Ondo West Local Government Area of the state. Ayomide, who was living with his stepmother was said to have gone on hawking cooked rice, but he was unable to give an account of the missing N500 from the sales.
