Rose Byrne is set to star as Jacinda Ardern, the prime minister of New Zealand, in a drama about how Ardern took action to ban assault rifles in the country following a deadly shooting against the Muslim community in 2019.
The film is called “They Are Us,” and it’s set in the week following the terrorist attack on two mosques in the city of Christchurch in which 51 people were killed and another 49 were injured. Ardern’s response to the terrorist attack was praised worldwide, and a photo of her hugging a victim was famously projected on the side of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. Emmy nominated actress Rose Byrne is set to play Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern in an upcoming movie about the weeks following the 2019 Christchurch mosque attacks.
The film titled
They Are Us, is written and directed by New Zealand s own Andrew Niccol and focuses on Arden as the film s protagonist.
They Are Us will follow Ardern s response to the tragic attack on 51 innocent victims on March 15 and showcases how Kiwi citizens rallied behind her message of compassion and unity.
Ardern received worldwide praise for her response to the shootings.
The Australian actress is set to play the Prime Minister in a film about the week following the 15 March Christchurch mosque attacks, according to US media reports.
