Over 20,000 people have received the Covid-19 vaccine at Stoke Mandeville Stadium. The hub, which was launched in the middle of January is next door to Stoke Mandeville Hospital, and is one of many centres giving out the jab to Buckinghamshire residents. The milestone jab was conducted on Saturday, March 6. In a brief Facebook post by the Aylesbury South East Conservatives that was published on Sunday, March 7, they said: “Super Saturday up at the vaccination hub, where the 20,000th vaccine was given. “Amazing team effort from everyone Healthwatch Bucks.” The Aylesbury Conservatives then posted on Facebook: “Fantastic that the Stoke Mandeville stadium hit 20,000 vaccinations at the weekend.
A vaccination centre to combat Covid-19 has opened at the Aylesbury Mosque. The place of worship on Havelock Street has transformed into a pop-up centre at the end of February, and is operated by members of the team at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium Vaccination Centre, with the support of key members of the community. The centre/clinic is one of several in the town, as it joins many pharmacies that are conducting the jab, as well as Stoke Mandeville Stadium and Bucks New University’s Aylesbury campus on Walton Street. Dr Sajid Zaib, Clinical Lead for the Stoke Mandeville Stadium Vaccination Centre and GP at Oakfield Surgery, said: “The pop-up clinic went really well over the weekend and it was great to see so many people come to the mosque for their vaccination.
