Bayelsa State Government has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew from 8pm to 6:00 am daily.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed on Monday by the Commissioner of Information, Ayiba Duba.
According to the state government, this is part of the proactive measures to prevent the spread of new variants of COVID-19.
The curfew takes effect from Sunday 16th May 2021.
“Movements within and out of the state through the major entry points including, Bayelsa/Delta States’ boundary at Adagbabiri, GloryLand Drive at Igbogene, and Bayelsa/Rivers States’ boundary at Mbiama are prohibited during the hours of the curfew,” Duba explained.

Two persons have been confirmed dead in two separate cult clashes in Yenagoa Local Government Area (LGA) of Bayelsa State.
Mr Ayiba Duba, the State Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, told newsmen that government was working with security agencies to apprehend and prosecute the cultists.
He also said that the State Government will foot the medical bills of residents who sustained injuries from the shootings and will ensure that such incidents does not reoccur again, NAN reports.
The commissioner gave the assurance that the state government remained committed to protecting people’s lives and property.

Two Bayelsa residents were killed in two separate cult clashes on Monday in the state, the Bayelsa State Government has said.
The Commissioner for Information in the state, Ayiba Duba, who disclosed this on Thursday to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), vowed that the state government was working with security agencies to apprehend and prosecute the cultists.
“There were reported cases of shootings by gunmen suspected to be rival cult groups on Monday evening at Erepa Road and Agudama-Epie, in Yenagoa LGA.
“Unfortunately, two citizens died; one at Erepa and the other at Agudama-Epie.
“Few others sustained varying degrees of injuries at Erepa. The injured persons are currently receiving medical attention in hospitals with most of them discharged,” he said.
