The bright family entertainment is usually staged al fresco in the manicured gardens of the Rippon Lea mansion in Elsternwick. And if you have seen it in previous years, you might recall the chaotic climax: a re-enactment of the Queen of Hearts’ croquet game, with adults donning playing card costumes and kids as hedgehog balls rolling through their legs.
