JS body discusses welfare plans for repatriated workers

DHAKA, March 9, 2021 (BSS) – The 12th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment was held today at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban under the chairmanship of committee Chairman Anisul Islam Mahmud.
The meeting discussed in detail the re-integration of repatriated workers, latest progress in providing loans for re-employed workers, implementation of social security programs, said a press release here.
The post-Covid-19 labor market situation initiatives taken by the ministry to introduce closed or temporarily closed labor market was also discussed at the meeting.
The committee was informed that all recruiting agents should be kept in the list of their legal representatives and submitted to BMET by March 31, 2021 in order to eliminate the violence of the brokers and bring the recruitment activities under transparency and accountability.
More Rohingyas showing willingness to go to Bhasanchar: Home Minister
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, MP said more Rohingyas are now showing interest to go to Bhasanchar as they feel comfortable and secured there due to steps taken by the government for their comfort and safety.
“A good number of Rohingyas, who have been forcibly displaced from their motherland Rakhine state by Myanmar Army over three years ago, are now showing interest to go to Bhasanchar from Cox’s Bazar, as the government has taken steps to ensure their safety and comfort,” he said.
The minister made the remarks this afternoon while inaugurating Bhasanchar police station set up to ensure security of Rohingyas as well as maintain law and order in the locality.

Rohingyas will willingly go to Bhasan Char in future because of its facilities and the security measures there, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today. Previously, the Rohingyas had some misunderstanding about Bhasan Char and thought they would face problems there, said the minister while inaugurating the newly built Bhasan Char Police Station in Hatiya upazila, Noakhali today.
Those who have already gone to Bhasan Char are fascinated by its facilities and the security measures there, Kamal said.
