Immediately following this year s Preakness, crews will start to dismantle the track at Pimlico Race Course.
The sounds of Pimlico coming to life reaches deep into the neighborhoods surrounding the track. Residents who live near the racecourse, like Tony Roberts, are able to cash in on the crowds. I see a lot of people looking for parking. People sell their parking spaces. We got parking in our backyards, Roberts said.
Other than making some extra money, Roberts and his friends have no ties to Pimlico. They see the track as an isolated place cut off from the neighborhoods that surround it. They had no idea about plans to redevelop Pimlico until the 11 News I-Team showed them illustrations of the plans.
