The work included electrofishing, a method of measuring the health of the fish population. https://t.co/etUcVHqN0Opic.twitter.com/4DRBzCk99k Greenville Rec (@greenvillerec) December 7, 2020
In an interview with news outlet
WYFF, Greenville County Parks, Recreation and Tourism spokesperson Ty Houck said a lake specialist conducting a study was “electrofishing” which stuns fish and causes them to float to the surface.
That’s when the giant goldfish along with a 4 1/2-pound large-mouth bass were found in the lake. Houck said goldfish aren’t native to South Carolina’s lakes, nor are they considered invasive.
