The 2020 APAN MusicStar Awards, which recognizes excellence in South Korean television and music, and promotion of the global Hallyu wave, was broadcast to the rest of the world thanks to leading K-Pop platform Amazer.

Hyun Bin, best known to the next generation of K-Pop fans and audiences as Captain Ri Jeong-Hyeok in the tvN hit series Crash Landing on You, received the 2020 APAN Star Awards Daesang (Grand Prize). In the series, Hyun Bin portrays a North Korean soldier who fell in love with the South Korean heiress Yoon Se-Ri, portrayed by Son Ye-Jin.
