A BOURNEMOUTH primary school has received high praise from inspectors after separating from a neighbouring secondary and opening as a stand-alone school. Avonwood Primary in Harewood Avenue was required to de-couple from Avonbourne Girls Academy after it emerged that both boys and girls from the primary school would automatically be offered secondary places at the girls academy. In order to resolve the situation the schools have separated but they remain located on the same site - along with Avonbourne Boys Academy - and all are operated by multi-academy chain United Learning. Inspectors checked to ensure the school is likely to meet all the relevant standards when a full inspection is carried out.
