Missing 16-year-old girl found dead along St. Clair County trail
Police are investigating after a 16-year-old girl went missing this weekend and was subsequently found dead Sunday morning.
Leah Conner of Avoca in St. Clair County went for a walk at about 11:20 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release from Michigan State Police.
Her family reported her missing about 4:15 p.m. after she failed to return home, police said
The investigation led police to the Trestle Bridge on the Wadhams to Avoca Trail, police said. A K-9 was used to search the area and Conner was found a short time later.
Leah Conner was more than just a loving daughter and sister.
The 16-year-old Avoca girl was also a singer and songwriter, said her father, Ian MacDonald. She played the ukelele and piano.
She was also a prolific artist and writer who devoured books. I just want people to remember the spunky, artistic, wonderful person she was, MacDonald said. There s a hole in our hearts.
