The Maharashtra government on Wednesday informed the Bombay High Court that it would not proceed with the process of delimitation of wards with respect to the cash-rich BMC till further hearing of a plea against the reduction of wards in the civic body.
The data of 2011 census clearly demonstrated that no increase in the number of Councillors, Wards was required and since there was no new data which required a change in the number of wards.
The letter states that the guidelines are in accordance with SEC orders dated 5/11/2016 aimed to prevent voters from being influenced in the build-up to the civic polls.
