Police sound warning amid rash of Athens-Clarke car break-ins
When Avery Adams went to her pickup Monday morning, she discovered someone had stole her pistol from the truck.
Not only was Adams vehicle entered, but at least two others were targeted in the same parking lot of an apartment complex off Gaines School Road.
The crime unnerved the 21-year-old woman, who feared her stolen gun could be used in a crime.
“It’s kind of scary,” she said.
Adams said she had locked the door to her pickup, although there is no evidence indicating how the door was opened, according to the police report.

Donna Lee Adams, 89 of New Concord, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2021 at the Beckett House in New Concord where she had resided for four years.
Donna was born in El Dorado, KS on June 5, 1931, the daughter of the late Stanley and Pauline (Miller) Blehm. She moved with her family from her beloved Kansas to New Concord in 1969.
Donna never knew a stranger and was known for her infectious laugh. She loved to travel, watch sporting events, shopping excursions, getting her hair and nails done, visiting with friends, and playing games with her grandchildren, whom she adored. She was a proud Ellinwood Eagle and always spoke fondly of her days growing up in Kansas with her dear siblings.
