When this column was started many years ago, its name, Avenue Flashes, was coined because that’s what it literally was…Flashes of tidbits about what was happening that day on Washington Avenue.
Well, another terrific summer is rapidly coming to an end here in Golden. Labor Day weekend is on the horizon, and things will be kicking into autumn mode from that point on until the Christmas season begins.
During the summer, folks in the good old U.S.A. tend to fire up the grill and cook up their favorite barbecue recipes. OK, well here in Colorado that’s more of a summer activity.
Did you know that this coming Tuesday, The City of Golden is going to be a part of a huge national event involving millions of people? Probably not, but I’m going to fill you in on the details here, so read on. Don’t worry, we aren’t going to have a human avalanche of all those people heading to Golden, they will all be participating from their own hometowns.
As most of you who regularly read this column know, I grew up here in Golden. As a kid, I experienced and enjoyed a lot of the things that this town had to offer and one of those was our biggest town festival, Buffalo Bill Days.
