CAIC is urging people to heed dangerous avalanche conditions in the backcountry this Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend as the number of avalanche deaths in the state continues to increase.
According to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, the two snowmobilers were buried in the avalanche around 2 p.m. on the east face of Mount Epworth.

DENVER â More people were caught in large avalanches in Colorado Friday â near Jones Pass and Loveland Pass â in what continues to be a dangerous season for people in the backcountry.
The two avalanches occurred Friday near Loveland Pass and near Jones Pass. The Colorado Avalanche Information Center said the one on Jones Pass was âvery largeâ and triggered by a snowmobile and the avalanche near Loveland Pass was human-triggered as well.
