Some suspected vandals arrested for vandalising pipelines have reportedly escaped from the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi state.
The anti-vandals unit of the corps had, on March 11, arrested the suspects, identified as Hassan Sani, Auwal Mohamed, Mohamed Mustapha, Mudashiru Abubakar and Ibrahim Rabiu, while ferrying products siphoned from the Niger Delta region to the North.

The Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has detained some of its officers on duty when five suspects arrested for illegal oil bunkering escaped from detention.
The state Commandant of the agency, Samuel Maigari, who confirmed this to our correspondent on Tuesday, vowed to fish out those behind the jailbreak.
Our correspondent gathered that five suspects Hassan Sani, Auwal Mohamed, Mohamed Mustapha, Mudashiru Abubakar and Ibrahim Rabiu were arrested by the anti-vandals unit of the NSCDC for pipeline vandalisation along the Abuja-Lokoja Road last Thursday.
They were said to have successfully carried out the crime and were ferrying the products to the North in two big trucks when they were intercepted by operatives of the anti-vandals unit.

Uneasy calm has pervaded the Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) as some officers were alleged to have aided the escape of five suspects from the cell after being heavily induced.
An insider source told DAILY POST that five suspects namely, Hassan Sani, Auwal Mohamed, Mohamed Mustapha , Mudashiru Abubakar and Ibrahim Rabiu were arrested by the anti vandals unit of the corps for bunkering and pipeline vandalisation along Abuja- Lokoja highway last Thursday.
They were said to have successfully carried out the bunkering business in the Niger Delta region and were ferrying the products to the north in two big trucks when they were accosted by the anti-vandals unit.
