German auto brand BMW is recalling 71 vehicles in the Chinese market due to flaws in seat side airbags, China s market regulator said.
The recall, which will start Thursday, will involve imported 425i and 430i models produced between June 16 and Dec. 2, 2020, said a statement by the State Administration for Market Regulation.
As the software parameters of the front seat side airbags are flawed, the timing of the front seat side airbag function may be delayed when the vehicles encounter a side impact.
BMW China Automotive Trading Ltd. will reprogram the software on recalled vehicles free of charge, the statement said.

German auto brand BMW is recalling 936 vehicles in the Chinese market due to defective on-board diagnostics (OBD) system, according to China s market regulator.
The recall involves imported X5M, X6M, M5 and M8 models produced between Nov. 22, 2017 and Sept. 7, 2020, according to a statement by the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Due to software defects, the OBD system may not be able to detect malfunctions that cause vehicle emissions to exceed the standard level, thus failing regulatory requirements.
BMW China Automotive Trading Ltd. will reprogram the software on recalled vehicles free of charge, according to the statement.
