Jay Thomas, son of Ricky and Jamie Thomas of Mason City, recently graduated from Illinois Central Colleges GM ASEP program with a degree in Automotive Technology. During the recent graduation ceremony he was also awarded “The Determine Student award” that recognizes the student that displays the highest level of determination while in class.
The GM ASEP or Automotive Service Education Program is a cooperative effort between local community colleges and General Motors that allows a student to work in a real world service department environment while in college. Graue Chevrolet Buick Cadillac acted as the sponsor allowing Thomas to alternate eight week periods between classes at ICC and working in the service department at Graue Inc with a mentor technician.
